The Beauty of Skinned Knees

Skinned knees. True, they aren't very pretty to look at, but what they are evidence of is something gorgeous.

Skinned knees are beautiful because beauty is more than what can be seen. Real beauty transcends the skin.

Beauty is a gruesome hike with a breathtaking view, it's jumping off a cliff into a foamy sea, it's getting dirty with the kiddos, and playing in the rain.

Beauty is not worrying how silly you might look in a snorkel mask or if a motorcycle helmet will ruin your hairstyle.

So what if your mascara runs, you get sweaty, or chip your nail polish?

Just as dolls were made not to sit pristine behind glass, never to be loved and enjoyed, neither were we meant to exist only to keep ourselves unsoiled and free from scars.

Skinned knees represent adventures and living life to the fullest.

So I say risk skinning your knees if it means climbing a mountain (or just a tree) - if it means running, exploring... living.

Have you ever had a moment where you threw vanity to the wind in pursuit of a great adventure? I'd love to hear your story!

To new adventures,

Abigail
